There is something so wild and adventurous about those lands blessed with red dirt. Although we call it red, it always reads more orange to me. I love to see the bright newly turned soil against summer green grass when there is new construction or in this case when the water breaks through the earth and leaves the exposed bright red/orange banks for all to see their stunning beauty.

This contemporary landscape is a beautiful depiction of Spring Creek in Oklahoma. It was begun as a plein air study, from a view inside the wide banks of the creek at Martin Nature Park and finished back home both outdoors and in the studio.

Painting is wired and ready to hang, edges are painted, and painting is protected with archival varnish.
